Meet Your Command Personnel

Major Alan Mandelbloom is the Support Services Division Commander for the Miami Gardens Police Department.  He was hired at the rank of Captain by the City in March of 2007 and assisted as part of the Transition Team in order to prepare for the takeover of Police Services from the Miami-Dade Police Department.  Major Mandelbloom prepared numerous drafts for the various departmental standard operating procedures, participated on numerous interviews for the ranks of Police Sergeant and Police Officer, was responsible for two training classes of new hires, and was the first platoon commander to service the citizens of Miami Gardens on December 16, 2007.  Major Mandelbloom was promoted to his current rank in April of 2008 and oversees the Records, Property and Evidence, IT, and Communications Units, as well as Facilities and Equipment Management unit.

Major Mandelbloom honorably retired from the Miami-Dade Police Department after 32 years of distinguished service.  Promoted through the ranks within the Miami-Dade Police Department, Major Mandelbloom served in a variety of assignments which included; Executive Officer (Captain) for the Doral District, Northwest District, and the Domestic Crimes Bureau.  He also served as a supervisor in the Training Bureau, General Investigations Unit, Police Operations Bureau, and Patrol Division.   Major Mandelbloom has a vast amount of experience in uniformed, investigative, and training assignments, both as an officer and a supervisor.  He has acquired over 2000 hours of certification training, seminars, conferences, and training courses regarding leadership, management, police operations, and community policing.

Major Mandelbloom holds a Masters Degree in Public Administration from the University of Miami, a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice from Florida International University, and is a Graduate of the Southern Police Institute in Louisville, Kentucky.  Born and raised in Miami, he currently resides in Pembroke Pines with his wife Pamela, and has three sons.
